                  HOHHOT - The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has become the 
                  third largest coal producer of China. 
                   
                  Statistics show that the region produced a record 112.3 
                  million tons of coal in 2002, an increase of 26 per cent 
                  year-on-year, and sold 111.6 million tons, up 36 per cent. Its 
                  industrial added value totaled 2.28 billion yuan, up 28.5 per
